Dual Tunnel Ram NEW PICS

Post by Warpig Racing »

***Edited... Does anyone have an MSD 8579 that they want to sell or trade for?

I traded today for a new Dual Tunnel ram :) now i just gotta get some carbs. Instead of getting 2 smaller carbs i was considering buying another edelbrock 650, adding restrictor plates to reduce flow to approx 400 each, and jetting it way down.

What do ya think?

Other questions. Does anyone know if 2 big carbs will bolt up and clear on the tunnel ram? Anyone know if there is disributer clearance problems (I have MSD)?

Here is the one that i got. http://www.holley.com/1988.asp

My opinion is, I would just get two small carbs. I dont so why you would have clearance problems with your distributor, if it fits now it will fit with that intake. Thats just my two cents.

For a completely non carb guy can you tell me why you'd upgrade to a tunnel ram? what's the advantage?

If memory serves me right, I think, it changes the power and torque curve to a better rpm range, dont remember if its a lower rpm or higher. Dont quote me on that, I could be wrong. Its just what I have been told in the past, didnt know how true it was.

Does wonders for low end torque, that is why you usually see them on drag cars. I have taken .26 seconds off a quarter mile just by adding a 2" spacer before.

Basically its different RPM ranges. i really dont care what it does. I just want a scoop out of the hood and cant afford a blower :)

Man those black plastic carb spacers that you see on ebay for $20 are worth every penny. They really work good. I had one on my F150 and i noticed the increase immediatly!

I got this scoop to top it off.

I think it will look very cool my self. You will have to get pics posted when you get them on. I always wanted to do the same thing, but now that I have the super charger I cant go that route anymore. Im not going to give up my SC, I love that thing. I gained about 75hp or more. Sure do love the wine too, lol.

the non metalic spacers are the best as they help keep the carb a little cooler thus keeping the gas cooler thus more power. And you know how we all feel about more power.

I would rather have the blower but my compression ratio is way too high. Would require piston and or head change plus all the blower componets. I dont really want to spend that much.

As for the wine, those noisy gear drives sound close to the big blower wine.
