Post whatever questions you have to the forum. That way others can give you their feedback as well, they can see what others have to say about the same issue.

That's the beauty of the forum environemnt. :)

I'm with Chris,
Refresh our memorys of the project. I've lost track of my own project several times and let it get away from me.

i've a 1998 ranger with a blown motor...but, i also have a 1999 mercury mountineer.... the ranger came with a 2.5l auto 7.5 rear end... the mountineer is a 5.0 auto 8.8 rear end it rolled over on its side but i still start it up and drive it so i was wondering how hard or if it would even work by taking my motor trans wiring rear end and everything out of the mountineer and put ti all in my lil ranger if anyone has done this swap already please please let me know some info

It's been done a couple of different ways. You might want to check down a couple of posts to the one on the difference between the different year of Explorer motors. Best thing problably would to get the '98' wiring harness and computer for the Explorer, change a couple of sensors, change the fuel rails on the Explorer to return style, get some motor mounts fab'd up, get a proper transmission, 8.8 rear end out of a later model 4.0 Ranger, radiator out of a 4.0.

the rear end should be a snap. i just put a 98 exployer rear in my 93 4x4 ranger. beside putting spring perches and shock mounts on the brake and emergency brake bolted right up. the master cylinder seems to be working just fine with the disc in back. i got the perches and mounts from summit. the 1.5 inches dont make any difference. i have a 3" body lift and there is no problem with clearence. this is the beging of my 5.0 swap from a 98 exployer.
