I'm with Ken, the center tubes are too close together to be ford headers. They look like small block chevy headers

I found these for only $128.95. Anyone know how they fit? I'd like to use them in a 94 Ranger 4x4.

Found them over here.

The odd thing is it looks like the picture has been inverted. My L&L headers I used on my 92 where just the oposite. Driver's side header went straight down and passangers swept back.

Headers

Post by plowboy34 »

Hey Malcolm, I have a set of them headers. We bought them for my son's truck when we put in new engine but he decided to go with the "P" heads and these will not work on the "P" heads. I never put them on so I have no idea how they fit, I bought them off a guy who had the on a 351w and he claims they worked good, but you know how that is. I didn't talk with him enough to really know if he knew what he was talking about or just a dazzler. If anyone is interested in them I will make you a deal.

Someone mentioned in an earlier thread that L&L reported that their headers work with the "p" heads. I haven't contacted them to get that word for myself, however before I buy, I plan to.

Malcolm indicated that they are a very nice fit and didn't require notching of the passenger side frame and that's enough to sell me on them until someone else reports a cheaper solution that will do the same.

I also liked that L&L will send you the headers unfinished for you to weld bungs into before they put the final plating on. I don't know if that service costs more or not...again I haven't checked for myself yet.

Hedman Shorties

Post by Injected 5.0 »

Malcolm / Dave
I used the Headman shorties on my "90". Headman say's to use their mount kit (I think its a 2.9 mount and adaptor) I used the F-series and 1" X 3" adaptors that I made (just like the Total Performance adaptors). The pass. side hits the engine mount adaptor. I clearanced it to make it work. you will need a 90 degree elbow attached to the collector for ground clearance. The drivers side fit's great.

Headers with the "P" Heads

Post by Dave »

Not sure what will work with the Ranger chassis but Central Coast Mustang makes headers to fit the Mustang with the "P" heads. They've got shorties for the "79-93", shorties for the -94-95', shorties for the '86-95' truck, a set of long tube Tri-Y headers for '65-70' and a set of long tubes for the '79-95' Mustangs. Seen that even the old "HiPo" cast iron header will fit.

Headers

Post by plowboy34 »

I emailed L&L and they wrote me back and said there headers will work on the "P" heads. I have not personally seen them on a head but thats what they wrote me and said.

I am putting the "P" heads in a 85 Ranger, not sure what we are going to do about exhaust manifolds yet. We have the explorer headers to use if we have to. I'm not crazy about the way they look but, the guy I bought them off of swears that he ran these then he installed a set of headers and it did not increase his 1/4 mile times at all. He seemed like a honest guy, you know not one of them lip flappers that you believe about a 1/4 of what they say. Also he told me that after I had already purchased them so he didn't have to lie to get my money he already had it.

I got an email from a guy the other day:
We're very interested to see how are headers would fit
for the 5.0 V8 swap into a Ranger. Our headers well
specifically designed for the Explorer/Mountaineer
1996-2001 with the GT40 and GT40-P heads, which were
used during those years.

I have attached some photos for your viewing.

Please let us know if you would be interested in
testing our headers. Thank you.

All the Best,

I have the e-mail still if anyone would like to see the pics. His e-mail address is:

rcpasq@yahoo.com

I replied and told him I didn't have GT-40 heads, but thanks for the offer. I also told him that a couple of you guys (Malcolm & cgrey8) are looking at doing the Explorer engine into newer ranger swap.

Maybe this will help someone.
