Better Ranger Brakes

Post by Dave »

Just passing this along from some one who has good luck with his set-up.

On the subject of brakes, I have had very good luck with Raybestos Super
Stop Pads with Raybestos PG Plus rotors. I run that combination on my 2002
Ranger that I tow my race car with all the time. The original brakes were
marginal at just stopping the Ranger by itself in a hard stop. Once I
switched over to Raybestos I have not had one problem with stopping. I did
find out I had to also put Super Stop shoes on the rear to get a good front
to rear balance when stopping. The Raybestos pads do not dust quite as bad
as the original pads but they do still dust. I think slotted rotors are
good for brakes that get very hot from very hard abuse but I don't think
there is any advantage for normal to hard street driving. I stay away from
drilled rotors because of the increased potential for inducing cracks.
