Naturally aspirated 5.0 from a 97 mountaineer, no EGR, headers so only 2 mods.

Has autolite AP104's in it now, they look like they have been replaced recently.

Is there another plug that you recommend?

Autolite 768s are the typical copper plug for GT40p equipped Explorers (according to Autozone's website). However if you are looking to go to a slightly cooler plug, that would be an Autolite 103. Although unless you are high compression or boosted, you likely don't need cooler plugs.

I dont know what Autolite 104s are.

I used to use Bosch platinums but I've had 3 of them go bad on me with less than 50k. So I've sworn them off and now just use copper cheapo plugs. The only other plug I've ever had that was bad was a Champion I put in the old v6...and it was bad out of the box...cracked porcelain. My guess is it was probably dropped.

I always go with copper plugs on projects, hot rods or any sort of toy car. They're cheap to replace and I like pulling plugs to read what the engine's doing when tinkering.
