There is a member named "stada shop" on RPS who sells them. (the finished plates)

These designs originally came from a Ford engineer and these are what Ford used in their protype Ranger V-8 swap. Step is in there to keep the motor level.

Flat plates would have the engine sitting high in the engine bay. If you have a body lift, you may not care. But in a 2wd with no body lift, this may cause access issues with the top two transmission bolts. If you want the engine to sit low, you can either put the drop in the plates OR you can redrill and remount the engine mounts lower on the crossmember. Although relocating the rubber mounts lower on the crossmember will move where the bolt holes need to be placed in the plates since the mounts will be closer together.

I'd be careful about dropping the motor from where these plate put it. All the Explorer's with SBF's have used flat plates with no problems. I think over 50 people have used the plates as above with no problems. Dropping it , you will find out some interference somewhere, fan shroud comes to mind as well as the steering. It gets real cramped in there now. Motor mounts are just below the #6 spark plug in this picture and behind the shock tower.

Maybe the drop has no purpose or is a nicety, but not required.

The torson bar suspensions of the Explorer & Ranger are level while the coil spring Rangers have a difference in frame heights side to side.

On the older style, is that true of all engine types? For instance are the engine mounts used on 4 cyl the same location/height as the 2.8/2.9/3.0/4.0 V6? I don't recall if the V6 mounts are all the same but I think they are. I think the 2.8, 2.9, and 4.0 are very similar blocks. Although I believe the 3.0L is a very different block.

Teddy, think you made your first mistake of the decade. Went over to RPS looking for more info and found the correct contact is "Strada Shop". Don't make a habit of this!

:)

I hope to swap a V8 in my '01 one day. I think a 3V 4.6 would be nice... With one of those whistling intake manifolds.
