I put a hei distributor in my 302 and now I don't have enough room for the fitting for the heater hose that mounts on top of the intake next to it. anyone got any pics of their setup of part numbers for a fitting that will clear it. any help would be much appreciated. thanks!

don't have any pics and probably couldn't post them anyways(very technically challenged) but we run a HEI on the boy's truck. we run an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake and the hose fitting comes up right next to the HEI. When I say right next to it I mean touching it. There is no room to spare, it actually just barely scrapes the distributor as you install it. We did have to change intakes to run the HEI though. At first we had the old 289 Cobra intake on it and the HEI would not go down cause the number 5 intake runner was to tall and the HEI would not go down far enough. We went to this intake cause it is basically the same intake just with the runners going in the opposite directions.

What kind of fitting do you have, is it straight or is it a 90* one?? How close is it to clearing? Maybe a different brand fitting may make a difference.

i have a edlebrock performer 289 intake manifold and i had a homemade 90 before which was obviously too bulky too fit so i tried a straight fitting from mr gasket and that barely cleared. my other concern was when i time the motor im worried about having enough room to move the distributor because it has those tabs on the sides that hold the cap onto the distributor.

you should be able to time it no problem. Even if you have to move the distributor a tooth one way or the other, there is enough distance between tabs to time it. We didn't have any problems anyways.

im thinking of getting a hydraulic fitting with a ball and socket in it so that the hose will have plenty of room between the distributor
