I should have left my snow tires on!

Post by carvinmark »

We just got 6" of snow and it's still dumping more. We are expecting around 9" total by the end of today. Yesterday I could see all the grass, knew I should have took the Ranger out for a quick blast.

Yep, I was wondering if you were going to get that white crap also. Got 6" of that heavy wet stuff yesterday and some flakes coming down right now. Green Bay got 9.9". I did make a run to the hardware store in the morning in the Stang and then stocked up on "Beverage". Sure got enough things to get done in the house. My old room mate (also here at site) sent this to me.

Hope they don't call off summer, if so I'll be hanging a front axle and a transfer case in the Ranger.

If they do, I'll cuss out anybody that hints at the whole Global Warming thing in my presence.

Although I think we, down here, are safe from that happening. It gets hot down here, always has. And even when it's not high 90s, it's almost always going to get into the low 90s in the Summer. I just hope this Summer is milder than last. Last year, we have a whole month of 93+ days. It's not unusual to have a month of high 80s and mid 90s, but it doesn't happen often that we get a straight month above 93 with most days in the 95-97 range. Last year, I was almost going to reconsider the Global Warming theory...almost.

I don't think I could handle 90+, heck, I don't know how I can stand our freezing cold weather either. Been wanting to move to a friendlier climate but $ won't allow it, yet!

East Tennessee temperatures have been in the 70's and 80's it has been great. The dogwood trees are beautiful.

Tennessee has thee completely different terrians, West Tn mainly flat , middle elevated plateau and the east section with the cumberland and smokey mountians.

The bad part of East Tn is I have had to mow the lawn 4 times , worst pollen in all of the USA and we are +2.5" above normal for rain fall.

But I still love it .

I envy you. Dogwoods are one of my favorite! I planted a dozen of them two years ago and hope they do well.

Dave your camera appears to be on a European setting of sorts. It says 19/04/2011. It should be 04/19/2011 in the US :)

I'm with Malcolm, I was bitchin just cause it hit 30's again. Sometimes you just need a new way of looking at things. After that picture the high 30's ain't to bad.

Yep, comes from working in an engineering dept where most of our work was over seas. On one of our jobs we actually sold 400 tons of sand to Saudia Arabia. On my drawings I started and convenced several to just write in the date as July 19,2011 to eliminate the confusion. Done a lot of interesting work in different fields.

Having same problem, currently working on job being built in France. Dates are easy ,design terms and good old metric system keeps things interesting.
Who were you working for?
I was with Gilbert/Commonwealth engineering for over 15 years then Parsons bought them out and I left.
