Fuel pump issue

hey guys this is what i did on my 91. im using my stock 2.3 in tank pump. since im carbed i had problems getting my pump to run after it primed. so what i did was ground the relay. i will have to look but i think it was a blue wire i grounded. so my pump runs as soon as i turn the key. i also had to block off the return line at my regulator to get the pressure right at the carb.

Thats what i had to do but I but I took the pump of in the tank and am just running the pick up.
