Putting it in next weekend

Post by Soul »

Well due to money issues blah blah, going to stick in my 88 TC, and when I have money put 2.3 turbo into 87 ranger. I'm going to be using a c4 I have already built with full manual reverse VB, 3.73 gears :S won't get to be a daily driver but a toy for a bit, will upgrade to AOD later. Had to order some special mounts for the bird and thats the last and only holdup.

Those ls1 motors are really wicked and when people do HCI they are pretty nasty. Depending on his mods he could be really hard to beat. My buddy has a 98 f-body and we weighed it at 3400 lbs with a full tank of gas. By comparison my Cobra came in at 3640 lb with less than half a tank of gas.

In my opinion it comes down to driving ability. If you don't just hammer it and smoke the tires and get the most out of your engine I say you can run him. With those gears she should pull like a freight train if you can get her rolling. Just make sure you race in a safe and controlled area, not worth dying or getting severely hurt to just prove a point.

There is the problem, he is an idiot and likes to street race, and I'm not saying I don't do excess speed (I'm guilty) but never in a city/town/or highway. To me it isn't worth it. I'll probably go to a test and tune at local strip and hand him a time slip and say do better. Just will feel good to 1up a 1upper :)

You know, that is really the smart thing to do. There is always going to be someone out there faster but just be happy with what you have done.
