Code Book Anyone??

Post by plowboy34 »

I was just wondering if anyone had the book that tells you what the codes mean. Trying to help my brother on his 95 Chevy Tahoe but I don't have a code book. The codes are 32, 33, 35. If anyone has this info would be greatly appreciated.

call O'reilly's or Auto-zone Advance or NAPA or even or the Chevrolet dealer(parts or service Dept) .... they SHOULD be able to tell ya the codes
if not ... i do know Advance Auto carries a book that tells what the codes are for ALL vehicles in one book ... its like $29 or so tho ........ but good luck .... ill call a few places here to see what i can come up with

also ....... MOST are 4 digit codes not just 2 ... if you can get the 4 digit ones.. i got a web page here that tells what they mean ... but not for a 2 digit .. but im still looking

Google is my friend! Just type in chevy engine code 32 and this is what you get:
What do I do with the Codes? This is less simple. OBD-I codes are very vague, and diagnosis sometimes isn't that simple. Most people think that a code 32 (EGR system) means the EGR valve is bad and needs replaced. This isn't always so!!! There are many components in the EGR system that could cause the code to set OTHER than the EGR valve itself! Below is a list of codes and what they mean.

Code: Meaning:

No Distributor pulses

13
Oxygen sensor

14
Coolant Temp sensor circuit

15

21
Throttle Position Sensor

22

23

24

32

33

35

36

41
No Distributor pulses, cylinder select error

42

43

44

45

51

Just googled it and checked about 5 of the results to make sure they were in agreement. Google is fun, I steal stuff with it :) lol
