Going to convert my 1997 4.0 ranger to a v8. I used to have an 84 ranger that I had a 69 302. lots of fun! i'm planning on going back to carburator and distributor. I have access to a 93 302 from a bronco. is that a roller motor? would it be a good engine to swap?

Truck engines in the 90s are confusing. The block casting is technically a roller block with all the dimensions of a block delivered with a roller cam. However many of the truck engines did not have roller cams and thus were not drilled-n-tapped for the roller-lifter spider to hold down the dog bones. One guy here actually drilled-n-tapped his truck block to let him bolt down a spider and he ran a roller cam in it no problem.

So is it a roller block, well maybe, sortof?
