e4od

Post by juni88126 »

What is the difference in size between the a4ld and the e4od? I am thinking about doing a 5.0 swap this spring, I was thinking about pulling the motor and tranny out of our 93 bronco and putting them in my 92 ranger.

Doesn't the Bronco have a rather large transfer case attached to the end of the transmission?? I would think that would be a problem right off the bat.

There was a guy on the forum a few years back that put a Bronco Xfer case or, maybe it was an Expedition transfer case in a 4wd Ranger. It was tight, but it fit. He had pics of it, but I don't recall what the transmission was.

Chris, you might be thinking of Bob Rwenzing who put the 4406 Expedition into his late model. Most beautiful overall swap I've seen. He won truck of the year at both TRS and RPS. Think that the 205/208 B-W x-fer case fit without too much trouble. Really not up on my differences, pro & cons of either one but got that tucked away somewhere.

I will be swapping the transfer case for some thing different. It has the electronic shifted 1356. I want to go to a manual 1356. It looks like it should fit.

Well, going into a '92' is going to take some massaging with the tunnel, usually a 3" body lift (or a combonation of the two) and notching the frame. It's been done but like a lot of swaps, takes some work.

The E4OD is a HUGE transmission compared to the A4LD. I helped a friend drop his from a '93 F150 and it was everything we had to keep from being crushed under it. No trans jack at the time.
