2010 Crew Cab Ranger

2010 Crew Cab Ranger
But as you can see, only if you live in Mexico can you get one 2wd or 4wd.

It is at least encouraging that Ford isn't completely killing the Ranger...only killing it for the US which means it'll be back. It's just a matter of time, particularly with the whole fuel economy push going full steam. I just hope they eventually offer a Crew Cab version in the US. These are really slick looking. But unfortunately, they only come with a 2.3L. I didn't see a V6 option. When my wife and I went on a cruise to Progreso and Cozumel last 2 weeks ago, I saw a lot of these. They are quite popular down there.

I think I found in the specs that it is 143hp, 153ft-lbs torque? Not great compared to a V8, but not bad for a 4-banger. The original 2.9L V6 that was in my 89 Ranger was in that same range and I'm sure that 2.3L gets far better fuel economy than the 2.9L ever did.

Mazda, Ford, that's what they use, could have been a Volvo, all Ford releated. My old Courrier was just a Mazda with a different badge on it. We in this country are going to have to get used to seeing some new things here, like it or not.

Yeah, Ford and Mazda have been in bed together for decades. I too had a Courier...old sky blue 78 Ford Courier (looked VERY much like your avatar without the black decals). It was nothing but a Mazda B1800 with Ford emblems on the key, steering wheel, front grill, and tailgate. Everything else indicated itself as a Mazda. The window glass, where you normally would see PPG, even had the Mazda logo. They didn't try to hide it. Even when the American made Ranger as we know it came out in '83, the association with Mazda didn't end since Ford used Mazda manual transmissions on a lot of them. The 5 speed tranny that went behind my 2.9L V6 was a Mazda transmission.

Well I almost wonder how much of this new Eco-Boost motor Ford got from Volvo. It's sure not like anything Ford had before. I'll know after this week-end, spending another wild week-end down in Illinois with my old friend, his son is a Master Volve Tech and knows all the stuff.
