2008 Mustang Tire pressure monitos

I just replaced the wheels on my 2008 Mustang GT 17" with a set of 18" from a Bullitt Mustang.
The new wheels are factory take offs that also have the tire pressure monitors.
When I first put the tires and wheels on they worked fine but now the monitor indicator is coming on.
Does the dealer have to reset?
Can I just disarm them?

How many miles have you had them on? I've heard they reset after a few miles but not sure how many. How you like that GT, can I see your grin from here? Sometimes it seems like half the people here also have a Mustang of one flavor or another.

I just put the wheels and tires on Friday so I will wait a couple of weeks before I try do do anything. This is a big topic on the Mustang forums.

The Mustang is great, it reminds me of my 69 Mach 1 I had along time ago.
It is actually the wifes car but she lets me drive sometimes. She had a Ford Fivehundred that she liked but my daughter and I told her it was a grandma car and I think we finally got to her so back in Setpember 08 she said I think I would like a Mustang ( she had a birthday coming up that may have been driver). Anyway we do not drive it very often as it stays in garage and we carpool to work together in my 91 (32mpg Mercury Capri).

Not sure about Ford but my Tundra has a reset procedure in the owners manual for that. I imagine Ford does too? I don't own any Fords with a tire pressure system. Didn't know the new Mustangs had em. That's cool.

Now that I think about it, it did come one time last year, sometimes hard to tell they're low with the low profile tires. I brougnt them all up to pressure and it did reset, don't know about when switching rims and tires. I let a guy at work sit in my '05' one day at work and in two weeks had a '06' pony package V-6, drove it for two weeks and he then lost it to his wife. She lets him drive it when the weather is nasty. 34 degs here with frezzing rain today.

You'd think the people up north would really appreciate the theory of Global Warming and embrace it.

Called my friend at Ford dealer and he said just bring it by and he would reset the TPMS for me.

By the way Dave it is 72 Degrees , global warming at its best.

No you can buy a tool for about $25 that will reset but the sequence is interesting

you need to put the car in programming mode. to do this: turn your ingnition key from the off position to the run position three times ending in the run position. step on the brake once. the horn should beep once and a message comes up saying PROGRAMMING MODE on the odometer. then it will say program LF. take the programming fob to the left front tire 180 degrees from the valve stem, where the sensor is located inside the rim. press the green button on the fob. the red light will illuminate and the horn will beep. then the odometer will say program RF. do the same to the right front tire 180 degrees from the valve stem press the button on the programming fob. the horn will toot again do the right rear and the left rear using the same sequence. it only took me like a minute.

wow interesting. Makes sense though otherwise you'd pull up next to a car at a light with a low tire and your dash would light up telling you your tire is low.

at my shop when we do 20's on 05 and up, you can use straps on the wheels for the pressure monitor and swap the valve. another thing you can do is there is aplug i think its near the booster somewhere you just unplug and disable it.
