Mazda Tribute Tranny

Post by pkjorlie »

Several times going down a steep hill and back up the torque converter kicks out and feels like neutral. Then kick back in with a bang.

Mazda Tribute is identical to Ford Escape and has transverse mounted 24 valve 3.0L V6.

Any Ideas? Fluid seems to be up to level at idle.

My GUESS is it's not the TC, but rather the tranny loosing pressure on the clutches and regains it.

Hey "Old" buddy, where you been?
You said at one time you had been towing some heavy stuff with it or was that with the Cheby van. Don't sound good no matter what the problem is.
Give me a call when you can, same number, same place, just don't call me late for supper!
