I am helping a buddy of mine and we are putting a cluth in this thing for him. The trans makes a little noise, the oil is low but also filthy. We are going to change it but when I got out of Ford in early 90 I know we were putting heavier oil in quite a few of these trans than factory called for. I was just wondering if anyone might have some newer info than I have or some of your own experiences. Truck is a 2.3 with a 5 speed. The trans and bell housing is all one piece. Don't know the name of it but it is all aluminum.
Thanks Guy's

I recall atf in both my 92 and 94. However I remember there been different transmissions in the 4 cylinders and you had to look at a tag and see which one you had and then it either took atf or gear oil. I'll see if I can dig up my Haynes manual sometime this weekend and find that info if you don't already have it by then.
