Torque Monster Headers

Post by Dave »

Just got my set and they look great! Bob actually called on Friday to check on what I thought about them, we talked for about five mins. New header bolts, loc-tite and and 17 min video of what the installation intails was included. Try and get that service from Summit or Jegs. Included was an new EGR tube for the additional 1" in height for the phenolic spacer he reccomends. First rate quallity welds.
Drivers side has a "merge cone" just before the collector to help with the flow transittion.

The man can build an awesome set of headers. Let me know how they fit in your truck. We went through about 7 sets modifying them to fit a ranger. I made some notes and suggestions, sent back the headers and he made them work.

ported GT-40P heads, E-303 cam, Trick Flow Street Heat intake, 1.7 rollers, 24lb injs,155lph in-tank pump, built AOD, 2800 converter, Torque Monster headers, dropped 3/4 on 98 Cobra wheels. Eternal work in progress.

CJ,
Just waiting for Spring! That white stuff is still way too deep up here, calling for 4 above tonight. Bob does indeed do a good job in his welding and all around workmanship. Am impressed. Said they are good to 350-380 flywheel hp.

I wish they'd work in my Ranger, but the fit is just too tight. The Explorer headers just do fit in there. But there's no way the passenger side would fit in the engine bay and clear the AC Box. I'm also a little concerned that the #7 pipe would contact the rear firewall with the motor where its located. If it didn't hit, it'd be awfully close and transferring a lot of heat to the firewall.

If I thought Bob could get a set of headers to fit, I'd consider getting them too. But I just don't see it happening. And to make matters worse, my house contract fell through. I get the earnest money, but that's a far cry from having it sold. I really thought it was going to go. BACK to square 1.

All,

I usually refer to the spike inside the collectors as "Modified Merge Collector Technology". It basically helps prevent premature exhaust expansion inside the collector before it reaches the exhaust pipe.

The tubes are arranged in clockwise circular firing order coming into the collector. This helps to give a scavaging/pulling effect to get the exhaust out. The 2 technologies together give you faster exhaust exit speed.
