Replacing Valve Guides

Post by cgrey8 »

Is there any special technique or tools required to remove old valve guides and install new ones in Ford heads, in specific GT40p heads? While I have the engine apart, I want to replace the valve guides on the heads. Those are a common items to replace when rebuilding a motor. With increased travel being given to the valves to a bigger cam AND stronger springs. Thoughts?

Chris,
I have always just taken the heads in for re-conditioning, never know what they might find that I would miss. I know that when I had my 289 heads done they replaced quite a few of the guides and several valves.
Drop you new springs off and they can set the proper height while they are at it.
