AOD and 4r70w dipsticks the same?

I was trying to get a Lokar dipstick for my 4r70w (from a 2000 Explorer) and couldn't find one on their site. So I called Lokar up and they said they have an AOD but they have no idea if it will fit or not. He suggested I just purchase the dipstick for the C6 because it has a long internal rod and then just cut it down to size. How do I know what size to cut it too though? I can't go by the stock fluid capacity of the Explorer because the cooler and hoses are different on my setup and would use a different amount of fluid.
