Post by gorgo »

i have a 98 exployer 8.8 traclok i put in my 93 ranger 4X4. it worked just fine for awhile now it will have the abs light come on for awhile then it will be off for a while. heres the question is the abs in the 8.8 rear compatable with the ranger sensors or is there possible something else? i checked all the conection and they are ok. any ideas?

It may be the RABS valve body that's mounted in the driver's side frame right behind the engine. My valvebody went out and when it did, it kept the RABS light on all the time and the familiar clicking of the RABS when I turned the ignition on was gone. Replacing that box did the trick.

under the dash on the drivers side the is a 1-pin connector. i think its black. one half will be a red wire, one half is black/orange. disconnect it and get a jumper wire. attach the bk/og to ground and turn the key on. count the flashes. it happens quick so do it a few times to make sure you count right. let me know what the light flashes.

No it won't.
Once you get the codes you then have to find there meaning. somewhere, a long time ago, I had a decipher sheet. No idea where it is now?

The RABS module (at least the older ones, '87 and '90) have no memory. Once the key goes off, code is gone. So you have to get the light to come on, keep the engine running, ground the wire to count the blinks, the figure out wht the blinks mean, then fix it. Have fun.
