oxygen sensor locations

Post by blk94xlt »

I'm trying to wire up the oxygen sensors and I just realized I don't know which one goes where in the exhaust. I am using a '97 explorer PCM and I have the EVTM but it has all of the oxygen sensors identified by a number (#1, 2, 3, 4). I don't know which bank (1 or 2) they go in and if they are upstream or downstream of the catalytic converter.

Here are the wire colors:
sensor #1: GY/LB R/W O LB/O
sensor #2: R/BK Y/LB O LB/O
sensor #3: R/LG W/BK O LB/O
sensor #4: P/LG T/Y O LB/O

Can somebody tell me where sensors 1,2,3,4 go in the pipes?

I don't have the trans harness so I can't go by connector color, I'm running a manual. I have the connectors so I'm wiring them to the engine harness and I'll be able to plug in the O2 sensors.

Are the sensor numbers that you gave in agreement with the sensor number /wire colors that I listed above? If so I'm all set.
