I've been looking to find something about Chris "The Crazy Greek" mentioned in that article. He used to race out of
Chicago. In an interview they asked him what was the scarest moment he had ever had while racing. He said it was when his Chrysler station wagon passed him. Now that's not unusual but it passed him overhead and took the top of his blower off. They were push starting him when the blower coughed, his speed dropped and the wooden front bumper of the wagon caught it with enough force to throw it over his dragster. Things were really scary back then.
