Made Progress

Well made some progress this weekend, put entire motor together checked all clearances, everything was right on the money, (piston to valve clearance was like 2 hundred thousandths) Didn't put motor together for finally assembly, I wussed out after putting in all those spiro lox. Will do finally parts wash and assembly through the week or this weekend. I took some pics but didn't want to get phone greasy.

what is that ??? a 306 .. 331.. 347 ????
96 Ranger Extended cab - work in progress.. 5.0 out of a 90 Mustang GT..Tremec TKO-3550-2 with mid-shift conversion ..Explorer GT40 intake and fuel rails. X303 FMS cam . WP Jr alum heads . K&N air filter.lowered .Weld Drag Lites (or Weld Pro-Stars) .. a 8.8 with Auburn Pro ..Moser custom alloy street axles (31 spline) and a 3:73 gear.L&L engine mounts and oil filter adapter.Aluminum Rad from James Duff.

if i may suggest one more thing to check if you havent ....... rod bolt/journal to bottom of cylinder bore clearance.... i dunno if a 331 is close or not.... but i do know that a 347 you HAVE to clearance the bores for the rod bolts ..... just asking cuz it could turn into a disaster if they are to close ....

If you squint, in the pic you can see where they are ground out for clearance.

Ya debating if I need to go out tonight and work on it, wouldn't be able to go out till 6:30-7ish and need to which would only leave like 3 hours to work on it. (about 20 min drive so minus another 40 mins).

ooks really good, shame to have to put oil in it and burn a dirty hydrocarbon in it. Before you get it all buttoned up, would you be able to take a couple of pictures of that gear drive and maybe a couple of measurements for me? Just working on some drawings in the computer for reference. Got the chain drive done but if its not too much, would appriciate anything.

Dave, my gear drive has a larger diameter gear on the passengers side of the engine, this pic isn't the best but it's all I have
