Getting Rid of my Ranger - 88 Extended Cab, 347, 9", C6

Post by Warpig Racing »

Updated on 2/10/2011. Not really looking for trades on bikes anymore. I have now aquired a small fleet of bikes and need to stop the madness.

$7,000 OBO on the truck and extra parts.
$1,600 OBO on the trailer - I wont sell the trailer before the ranger.

Its been a lot of time, money, fun. My interests are migrating towards choppers and i just dont have time to enjoy. Plus I am moving and storage will be a problem. Also planning on returning to college next year and will further need to reduce my expenses.

1988 Ford Ranger XLT extended cab. I have clean clear Oklahoma title.

Engine: This is a non roller 302 block that has been bored .030 over and has a steel 347 crank, forged I beam rods, and probe pistons. The block has been zero decked, aftermarket alum heads, main girdle, ARP head and main studs, high volume oil pump, moroso style 7-quart pan, Weiland Tunnel ram intake, and 2 Edelbrock 600 carbs, with the hood scoop. Also has full roller rockers and a comp cams 268H cam, setup with single serpentine belt drive, and moroso electric water pump drive on a high volume alum water pump. Electrics are a MSD Digital 6 box and a MSD distributor. Other goodies too. I have over $6K in the engine alone. I also have some extra engine parts. These include an Edelbrock air gap intake, aftermarket electric water pump, custom 351 grind comp cams solid lifter, and an edelbrock 650 thunder series carb

Transmission: This is the C6. It has a custom 3400 stall converter, fresh rebuild with shift kit. The SFI flex plate was balanced to the engine. I have the aftermarket ratchet style shifter. Extra pars include a SFI flex plate for a C4 tranny that was also balanced with the engine so you have the option to swap to a smaller c4.

Rear End: This is a narrowed 9” rear housing with back brace. Aftermarket forged 31 spine axles with full spool. All new bearings and new brakes. Tires are Hoosier Street Slicks measuring 28 x 14.50. Custom alum drive shaft with 2 drive shaft loops.

Other stuff: 4 gal foam filled fuel cell, Holley blue fuel pump, billet regulator, monster tach, oil pressure gauge, water temp gauge, fuel pressure gauge, full length v8 ranger swap headers, 1 set of 2.5” exhaust with dual chamber flows and 1 set of 3” exhaust with single chamber flows.

Other stuff as well. I should have most all receipts for everything. I also have detailed pics of the engine build.

As you can imagine from the parts listed above, I have A LOT of money tied up in the truck (well over $12K). I built it to race and I only took it to the track a few times. Last time I had it at the track almost 2 years ago it ran 13.15, but that was only in 2nd gear. I got the tranny rebuilt since then and should be good to go for much better time. I would estimate that this truck with the correct tuning and driver could do 11.5’s with ease.

I also have a trailer that I will also consider getting rid of. It is a 16 foot flatbed, new 6 ply tires, trailer brakes, new treated wood bed, 8000 winch, heavy duty ramps, spare, removable sides, heavy duty tie downs, plus other goodies. I used this trailer solely for towing this truck so you can get it all here in a one stop shop. All you need is a tow vehicle.
