1994 AWD V8 Ranger

Post by MalcolmV8 »

2000 Ford Explorer fuel injected V8 with 92 Mustang computer
2000 Ford Explorer 4r70w transmission with programmable Baumann controller. See controller info here http://www.baumannengineering.com/tcs.htm
Full time AWD - can unlock front manual warn hubs if you wish to be in 2x4 mode.
Power windows, door locks, mirrors, remote keyless entry with alarm and immobilizer. Tinted windows, front loading CD player.
Installed electronic rear view mirror with auto dim, outside temp, compass, and LED map lights.
To many mods to remember all, everything from spray in bed liner to clear turn signals and everything in between - if you have questions just ask.
215k miles on truck with 60 000 miles on v8 swap. Truck starts and drives like factory, nothing rigged. Brand new tires just put on less than 5k miles ago.

Make me an offer.

[edit] just remembered - class III tow hitch and electronic brake controller installed too.

Bug shield has been removed since pics taken because I think it looks nicer. I still have it if you want it.

Wish I could, driveway is full, garage full, pole barn full, pockets empty. You know you are going to miss it. I know from the pictures you have posted that you do a really good in what ever you do.

I know, kills me to have to sell it but a lack of back doors/seats and kids is just not working out. I wish I had the cash to just keep it around as a toy but I need the money to go towards another vehicle.

Red one is long gone. I spent five years building it though and can answer almost anything you want to know about it. Unless you meant information on purchasing it.

I am a garage mechanic and I was wondering whether it would be easier to go carb vs. efi. I know a guy that has a rearend wrecked 1988 mustang lx and I was going to rob its engine and put into my 1990 ranger but I was wondering about the cpu and the wiring. I know I have a serious difiiculty rating - but I want to go the best I can on a working mans budget and also not take up soo much room in the garage.

Bravo, I'd start a new thread in the Main V8 Ranger discussion forum where you'll get a lot more exposure. Lots of people there can help you with the EFI vs Carb pros and cons.

Malcolm-

hate to see it go-

I was wondering though, still happy with the AWD route you went? I am 99.9 % sure thats the route im going with my 92. Do you ever unlock the hubs and drive around in 2x4? any different in power feel or mpg?

also, dont remember if i asked before, but did you ever have the front axles balance to eliminate as much vibs as possible?

Ill spread the word around on the truck- good luck

Love the AWD route and would never do it any other way. I never unlocked the front hubs unless I was working on some issue.
Power feel and mpg appear to be completely unaffected by locking or unlocking the front hubs.

Never touched the front axles.
