Wisconson/Illinois meet

Post by Dave »

No I haven't gone over to the dark side but a lot of the Ranger owners from WI/IL that belong to either RPS or RPS are going to be having a meet/cruse coming up in Madison, WI next May Went to the last one they ad in Oct and had a good time meeting those that you only knew by their sign-in name. Slammed trucks to lifted ones but, sadly, no V-8's. Get out amd meet some other owners even if they don't have done the swap yet. A lot of work has gone into a lot of their rides and their pride shows
Anyone up here in the area, let me know for info. Some drove 3-4 hours last time. Ranger not ready for the trip, they let me bring the Mustang last time and someone else showed up with one of the hot
Surburu's.

Wow 10 haha. My AWD Ranger (auto) runs 17s in the sumer riding it hard. If there's lots of highway (long trips) I can touch 19 but that's rare, mostly I'll hit 18.
Winter 14 is common, 15.5 with lots of highway. When it drops into the single digits I usually see 13mpg average on a tank.

You make me really glad I have a 2wd manual. With the acetone-laced 87 octane, I'm consistently getting mid 19s to and from work. When I drove to Florida for Christmas, I got just above 21MPG. I datalogged 21.7, but I think at the pump it ended up closer to 21.3. I did find I got better fuel economy on the Interstate (mid 22s) going 80 than I did on the back roads going 70 (mid 20s). At 1st, I couldn't figure it out. But on the way home, I realized that when I was on the Interstate, I was always behind someone so I was getting a fuel economy increase due to drafting. Either way, it's still better than I was getting with 93 octane. Acetone isn't the big saver the websites I heard about it claim, but there is something to it that gives me a point or two better AND lets me run 87. Although, I did have to lower my spark a fair amount in some places to keep from pinging.

Yeah I just keep my timing down and run 89 too. With the price of gas it's just not worth it right now.
