Best Way To Reattatch Shifter Knob

Post by plowboy34 »

As title says...the shifter knob has came off Dad's truck. I have tried silicone which works for a time but doesn't last. Just wondering if anyone has come up with a good solution.

Is it one of those push-on knobs like what Ranger manuals use?

I don't remember what I used wheither it was a super glue or gorala glue but it's not coming off. Bought a used one and they had used electical tape, came off on the test drive. Saleman became really embarassed! Just another truck I should have kept.

Epoxy. Will never just fall off. I was amazed Ford does that on some of their newer cars. Guy brought me a 2011 GT500 he wanted a shift knob installed on. Figured no problem... yeah right. I had to remove the shifter from the car and mount in a vice and then carefully heat the shift knob with a heat gun till it got really hot then and using a strap wrench eventually managed to crack the epoxy and turn the knob off.

Thanks Malcolm, I used emblem glue this time, holding so far. If it come off again will try the epoxy trick.
