A piece of V8 Ranger History

Post by MalcolmV8 »

Here's a very well put together manual from a few years ago. Over a hundred pages, pictures, diagrams and charts. It'll give you all you ever wanted to know about V8 Rangers. Maybe you're actually doing a V8 Ranger swap and need this or perhaps you'd just like a piece of history from the site. Either way make an offer.

That's the Harwood manual, not sure what year. He offers it in download editions now for $25. Not sure what year but I did help him at one time on transmissions and he included those pictures. Not a bad bood for an introduction but so much more in depth help now on the net.

Funny thing about that '98' he built with the blown Cobra motor is that he sold it (lives in Ohio) and it showed up three blocks from work (central Wis) for sale couple years later, all beat to pieces. Haven't looked at his later editions to see how he covers the Explorer motor and wiring.

That's pretty interesting. I know my Red Ranger has changed hands a few times. I've had new owners call me up and chat to me about the truck. Always very positive feed back which is great. One of the latest calls I got was a guy who picked the truck up from his brother and said he let it sit for a long time and got water in the fuel cell and blew the motor :( He didn't have details on what went wrong as I don't think he was into building motors and knew the specifics or what to look for. He called to see if I'd be interested in helping him rebuild the motor. I told him absolutely bring it on over but then never heard from him again. I often wonder what the truck looks like now days and what other mods others have done over the years. If I had the garage space I'd buy that truck back, so many years of hard labor went into it... you know how that goes.

That's one thing I hate about having to sell a project. Years ago I sold a 1971 F100 that I had built. It had a 352 with a 3 on the tree and a bench seat. Loved that truck but I sold it to buy my first Mustang. Anyway, a year or so after I sold it, I came across it in my favorite junk yard. It was beaten to hell and stripped clean. I can honestly admit that I cried.
