Re: SMD/LED replacements for 1157 bulbs

While I haven't "used" them, I do have the second ones installed on all four corners. The truck still isn't running so I can't comment on their appearance. As im sure you already know, don't forget about your blinker. Since LEDs draw less current than incandessant bulb, the stock blinker m...

Re: Shhh...

I've just been working so much. Haven't had much time to do anything on anything. Haven't even been home but a few days in the last 3 months.

Re: Mechanical fuel pump?

Well, that was my plan but he wants to eleminate everything associated with the stock fuel injection system. I guess its understandable since he has had quite a few problems with it. It's been a great truck with over 200,000 miles on the 2.9L with no major work but now its starting to have various e...

Mechanical fuel pump?

Working on my brothers 1986 Ranger carb 302 swap. He's wanting to eliminate both electric fuel pumps and replace with mechanical pump. Other than the L&L inverted pump, is there any other mechanical pump that'll clear the gear box? Is anybody running a mechanical pump on their swap?

Re: To pull and sell or not

Here's that the pits look like: 302TimingCoverPits.jpg 302TimingCoverPits_2.jpg Click the images to view larger. This pitting is called cavitation. In this case, it is caused when the water pump impeller sucks in air pockets due to low coolant level. It can also be caused by vibrations in the cylin...

Re: Coolant temp sender?

Lol, yea I could have had the intake off and back on by now! I'm going to mout the sender in the heater hose 'T' from that mustang and run a ground wire from the housing. I was also considering replacing the OBD 2 PCM with one that has cooling fan control built in. I'm at a stopping point right now ...

Re: Coolant temp sender?

Drill and tap would be my first choice also if my intake wasn't already installed. I wasn't planning on running the auto meter gauge at the time. It was given to me after everything was already assembled and installed in the truck and I didn't feel like pulling the intake back off. Thanks for all th...

Re: Coolant temp sender?

I was looking for a V8 tach at the salvage yard and I was looking around at all the other vehicles just to see what I could find when I stumbled on this. It came from a '93 2.3L Mustang. I'm going to check the resistance values at increasing temps, if the values line up with my stock sender, I'll ke...

Re: Coolant temp sender?

Huh, that's a good idea. I didn't even think of mounting it in the heater hose. Thanks!

Coolant temp sender?

Hey guys, I'm wiring up my gauges and last minute odds and ends. I will be running an Auto meter electric coolant temp gauge to keep a closer eye on my investment but I really don't want to have a dead gauge in my instrument cluster. I don't care if its entirely accurate, I just want it to work. Pro...

Re: Finally making some progress

Yea, it's definitely not a stock engine. I was hoping for a factory looking install though. Something like a factory equipped but modified 5.0L Mustang.

Finally making some progress

Hey guys, It's been a while since I've had some time to work on the truck, but I'm finally making some progress. I'm finished the under hood engine and trans wiring. Well basically, everything under the hood is complete. I'm now trying to finish the interior wiring, then comes the PCM tune!! I know ...
