Re: Hit a damn deer...

I FINALLY got around to Plast-dipping my front and rear bumpers. Now that it's done, I'm glad I did it, but what a PITA!!! Most of the pain was me not knowing how the front bumper came off. I started by taking the fog lights and the bottom plastic dress off. Then I assumed I'd need to remove the Pla...

Re: Hit a damn deer...

That's exactly what the thread morphed into.

The hope was that it would be informative and help others considering LED conversions.

Re: Hit a damn deer...

So far, it's doing just fine. The fender accents are really what looks great. I'm just dumbfounded how much nicer it looks with black instead of chrome. The front headlights wouldn't look right at all with the chrome just because the front grill is black. So it was kind of a must that they be spraye...

Re: Hit a damn deer...

I never followed up, but I've had the truck back for a few weeks now...coming up on a month now. But I like how it came out. I'm really impressed by how good the Plastidip looks. Doing my research, it seems you can get away with a 4-5 coat job, but to get a durable coat that won't easily tear, 7-8 c...

Re: Hit a damn deer...

$#!^ happens. And all things considered, it could've been worse. But it's still annoying none-the-less. But yeah Ranger season is pretty much all year here in Georgia. Deer aren't just a problem during the fall. That's why I was reconsidering putting a brush guard on the front of the truck, but it s...

Re: Hit a damn deer...

Yeah, it was a small deer and I wasn't going that fast...maybe 35-40 before I hit the brakes. Actual impact was probably somewhere around 30. Even as it was happening, I wasn't thinking about safety. I was thinking about how much it was going to damage the truck. Depending on your hunting tool of ch...

Hit a damn deer...

It was bound to happen eventually. I was driving to work and a stupid #@%!$* deer jumps out in front of me. Fortunately it didn't do a massive amount of damage. It completely shattered the DS headlight and crumpled the DS fender enough that it cracked the paint and has exposed metal, so the whole fe...

Re: Replacing a turn signal switch

I think I might've found the answer I was looking for...a youtube video of it being done:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxE9ukmE8B4

If the 97 is this easy, then I have to believe the 89 is equally as easy, if not easier.

Replacing a turn signal switch

How difficult is it to replace a turn signal switch? My dad's 95 Ranger needs a new switch. What I don't get is why he cares, he never uses the blinkers to start with. LOL. I'm trying to figure out if it's something I can do for him with general tools or if it's going to require something special li...

Re: 2003 Ranger Build

It's true the GT40 has a larger exhaust valve, but it is incorrect to assume that the GT40 flows better because of this. Flow tests have shown the stock GT40p exhaust port to flow just a tad better than the GT40 exhaust port (both in stock condition). Now once you port either of them, all bets are o...

Yeah the add-a-leaf is probably going to be the easiest and cheapest way.

Rear airbag suspensions for Rangers

How worth it are rear airbag setups? One of my old complaints with my Ranger is that when loaded, it really sags the back end. I considered airshocks but was warned not to bother years ago for only occasional hauling as they make the ride so stiff when there's no load. So I thought maybe airbags wou...

Re: gt40p heads

On other forums, people just couldn't understand why I wasted my time porting and respringing my GT40p heads. But what they were unaware of is this wasn't for a Mustang. It was for my Ranger. And my intention for the project was to build an engine that could fit in the engine bay EXACTLY as the exis...

Re: gt40p heads

The other thing that's probably worth mention is if you are looking into porting both the intake and/or heads yourself, you'll need different porting bits for cast iron and aluminum. And if you don't have porting bits already, spend the extra money to get the long shaft bits so you can see what you ...

Re: gt40p heads

Short answer. No. Long answer. If you are destined to do work to the heads, upgrading the valves is not where your time/money should be spent. The castings are the bottleneck, not the valves. The GT40p heads outflow the GT40 heads, which use a larger exhaust valve. People that have taken the effort ...
