Re: Anyone had problems with the weight on 5.0 Flexplate?
Actually the ring gear is about 1/2"-3/8" away from the shield but the 50oz counter balance weight stick out a good 3/8" from the ring gear. The weight is what is hitting. Like I say, I may have to shim the belhousing away from the shield with washers like a good 1/16" (yes it is...

Re: Well, here's my V-8 Ride
Yes the wheels are off my 93 ranger. I signed it over to the wife in the divorce settlement. She hasn't picked it up yet so I swapped out the wheels and tires today. The Bronco II had the little P205 "pizza cutter" all season radials that looked like training wheels with the 2" body l...

Well, here's my V-8 Ride
I got lucky at the DMV when they gave me a plate with the number 302 on it. Didn't even ask for that.

Re: Anyone had problems with the weight on 5.0 Flexplate?
Id bet the above poster would be right,,,,302s are known to wear the thrust bearing out causeing the crank to walk ive seen 302s with auto trannys on them have crank walk up to 3/4 of a inch....grab the crank pully with the belt off and see if you can pull it in and out.... Even on a freshly rebuil...

Re: Anyone had problems with the weight on 5.0 Flexplate?
Yes,
I did bend the shield a little but I think it is still rubbing up inside. The shield is aftermarket and is aluminum so it shouldn't hurt the counter weight.

Anyone had problems with the weight on 5.0 Flexplate?
I have the 157 tooth flexplate with the big 5.0 counterbalance weight (I think it was a B&M). The weight is ticking and rubbing on the dust shield. Anyone else had that problem?

Don't worry Mac
When it's fixed you will be the first (besides me) to drive it. It is a blast! with the V8 and 600CFM carb. You won't even be able take mild curves at it's capacity or you'll roll it.

Mazda Tribute Tranny
Several times going down a steep hill and back up the torque converter kicks out and feels like neutral. Then kick back in with a bang.
Mazda Tribute is identical to Ford Escape and has transverse mounted 24 valve 3.0L V6.
Any Ideas? Fluid seems to be up to level at idle.

Thanks Adam
That was my next try is to put the tranny upright to make sure everyting is seated right. The hard part is keeping that oil distribution ring on the end of the pump assembly seated in the holes. Guess I could use some axle grease or something. Ive tried putting it together horizontally and just bare...

2 core Radiator
I bought a two 1" core aluminum Radiator off ebay for $140 and placed it behind the front clip. I had to remove the 2" block between the fan and the water pump but did not need the inline filler cuz the radiator cap stayed exposed.

Trouble Getting C5 front Cover to Seat
I pulled the tranny last weekend to repair a major leak in the front of the tranny. It was a bad gasket between the case and pump/cover assembly. After replacing the gasket, I can't seem to get the front cover to seat completely. It goes in about 1/8" short of seating tight against the gasket. ...

Thank God Dave and I have moved on to more interesting relationships since then. Although I think Dave has had more luck sleeping with trucks than I've had with women. Anyway, I'm thinking I'd be better off getting a different truck for towing. My brother has a 3/4 ton Chevy he'll sell me for a gran...
