Re: Looking for indepth cam advice with a 4.6 mod motor
You may not loose a LOT of HP, but the potential is there. There's also the possibility that you'll increase by being able to push more boost. However on Windsors, if you put a radical cam with boost, you wind up loosing PSI because at lower RPMs, the added overlap literally just allows air and fue...

Looking for indepth cam advice with a 4.6 mod motor
Hey Guys, This question is on my 03 Cobra with a 4.6. I know there's a lot of really smart guys on here working with the 302s and 4.6s so I thought I'd reach out here. Reason for change: First I'll preface this and let you know my main reason for looking into cams is purely the awesome sound. Especi...

Why a motorcycle on propane? Just for a fun project to do?

Re: how much boost??
Stock 302 and 4.6 guys generally don't go over 450 whp on stock internals which is in the ball park of 6 PSI generally. Even 8 to 9 is really pushing it. I've had a few buddies push 500 whp on their stock internal Mach's and such and they always end up blowing them up. 14 PSI on stock internals won'...

I don't know that the info is nearly as comprehensive as the forum posts but yeah there's still some info up.

Re: Converting from VSS ddto cable spedo
That combo looking VSS/cable part was stock on my 92 Ranger so they should be easy to get a hold of.

Re: allwheel drive
Yes I had a 2000 Ford Explorer AWD in a 94 Ranger. One of the best vehicles I ever owned. Daily drove it for many years and almost 100k miles on that combo. Search the forum for my threads on it. There is no one single write up but as I ran into issues and solved them I posed them up on here. Things...

Re: concentric slave cylinder
Nice man!! Love seeing the innovations continue as new parts become available. The newer Mustangs have such wonderful clutch feel with their hydraulic clutches so there's a good chance yours is going to be butter smooth. Hopefully the stock master cylinder in the Ranger pushes enough fluid to work i...

Re: My low boost dyno results
Those engines are fairly complicated to build. Everything must be done exactly to specs, there is no wiggle room. Thing is, once built correctly, they're incredably stout engines that'll handle quite a bit of power. In his case, his tuner screwed the pooch. Under those conditions, any gasoline inte...

Re: Big front brakes
I don't know why Ford didn't just give the Ranger's hubs from the factory. I always hated a brake job on them pulling apart the front wheel bearings and repacking and all that.

Re: Interior pic's
I've heard Honda Civic seats work well in Rangers. I can't speak to all years but I have a 98 and an 04 Civic (turbo toys) and let me tell you the seats are anything but comfy lol. I sure wouldn't put them in a Ranger. They're so thin and light for weight savings and kinda hard and very unforgiving...

Re: My low boost dyno results
Fairly stout but these motors are so complicated and expensive. Don't get me wrong I love my 4.6 but it has so much money in it. My buddy's GT500 with the 5.4 is also a beast (whipple, nitrous, water/meth, long tubes the whole nine yards) and recently damaged his motor. He went to get a new tune and...

Re: Option for manual trans?
Been a while since I compared but I recall the T56 and T5 mounting locations to be quite different.
TOB retainer failure is quite common when driving them hard for any period of time. My stock one lasted about 3 years before giving out.

Re: Option for manual trans?
Good point. Actually I twisted two stock 10 splines and then switched to a 26 spline. The stock throw out bearing retainer snapped too which is very common so I replaced it with a billet piece and never had an issue with it again. I'm sure my T56 is on borrowed time but just how far it's come shows ...
