Flywheel Question
Right now I am running a 85 5.0 engine. I have a 2000 5.0 out of an Explorer I am building now, my question is, will the flywheel I am running right now work on the 2000 engine. I run an AOD tranny, it is the same tranny that came with the 85 engine. I know they changed flywheels between those years...

Very nice looking ride Malcolm. I'm glad you got that vibe fixed so you can now enjoy driving it. Your going to love it, and yes everybody will want to race you. people come out of the woodwork looking for my son and his don't look near as good as yours. They just hear it has a V8, first they don't ...

james duff headers
I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about the duff headers. I have never seen a set or heard anything about them so I am asking.

V6 vs 5.0
Hey V8ltd, Not sure what it would take to do a SOHC V6 conversion. I have never seen one or heard of one. I just thought I would let you know I run a wore out 150hp 5.0 with a carb and get 18mpg. I know people with injection and more ponies who pull almost 22mpg. The swap is not really that hard if ...

oil pan
I do not know the exact differences in the pans. I have never personally seen a L&L pan, but I do know I would not pay the price they want for a pan when the fox body one works great. It fits like it was made for it. That's all I have to say about that....

Motor Mounts & Headers
cgrey8, I do not believe the Explorer pan will work near as well as the fox body pan. I have a Explorer pan that came with a engine I purchased and they are alot deeper than the fox body pans. My fox pan sits very close to I-beams and I believe the Explorer pan would hit just from looking at it. I m...

Just my opinion again, just please remember I completely agree with Malcolm about the fact that it is your truck and I'm not trying to talk you into anything, just giving you an opinion, a CRAZY FARMERS opinion...LOL About the aluminum heads and the weight difference. I don't believe the 80-85 pound...

Explorer Engine
Hey cgrey8, first off I believe $800 for that explorer engine is a good deal if it comes with all the front accessories, computer, and harness. I would jump on that in a heartbeat. Also I just want to say again that I think you are waisting your money replacing all the internal parts. With that engi...

Swap
Hey Cgrey8, You haven't said if your building this truck for strip or street. If your going for a nice streeter I wouldn't go through the cost and hassle of buying everything seperate. If you get a MAF setup, with just a few changes like cam and air sensor and injectors you can make that baby sing. ...

V8 Swap
Hey Buddy, I put a 85 T-bird 302 in my sons 85 Ranger and it had over 100,000 miles on it. It burns about a quart every 500 miles. That's how wore out it is and trust me, that baby will run circles around that 3.0 you got. Only reason I didn't rebuild it is he never drove anything with to much power...

old 302
I would say you have the timing to far advanced since it's running fast and hard to crank. That's where I would start anyway's. Have you driven it on the road yet. If so is it pinging, if so the timing is definitely to advanced. Just a starting point.
