Re: hard starting when warm

pour a little gas down carb and see if it fires right up or remains the same. If it fires right up I would check float levels.

Re: Cam lift

That much lift I would automatically do a PV clearance test. It's a bit of a pain but a broke off valve at about 5K would be too.....

Re: WTB 2wd Manual Steering Pitman arm

Michael, I probably have one but would have to dig through shop to find it, that being said the reason I have one is when we first did my son's truck we went manual steering too and I STRONGLY suggest you don't go there. If this is going to be a daily driver or drove on the street at all I would not...

Re: 1990 5.0 Lincoln town car motor&trans swap into 97 range

Well I have never done fuel injection so I can't help you with that part but there are many who have and it can be done fairly easy. If cgrey8 ever see's this he can steer you in the right direction in a heartbeat on that stuff, as far as installing the engine and trans and all the mechanical stuff ...

Re: 97 ranger speedometer question

I am going strictly off memory here and at my age that's not saying alot. I think the early electronic speedos were driven from the same location on tranny as a cable. Actually when you pulled the unit out of trans the part in the trans actually still looked just like a normal speedo cable but inste...

Re: Mounts and Header issue

The boy's engine is offset a little but not that much. I would just cut a little of the frame where the header is close. Not butcher it but just enough it will clear the torque of the engine. If you have a 1/4" inch now I would say a 1/2" cut would be plenty and that would not weaken the f...

yes you need the steel gear, we put the HEI in the boy's truck and it has an Explorer engine.

did not know that about the E303 and EFI, that was a cool read. Yes I am an old fart and a carb guy... 8)

I bet that 331 is cool to drive...I still have a serious bug to build one or maybe a 347....although the wife says if I do it is going in her Mustang II....

Re: New Guy with an 83' V8 Ranger

The E303 debate roars on... :D :D We put it in the boy's truck for that exact purpose, his starts really talking about 1800-2000 rpm range. Let's face it these trucks (2wd) have a serious traction issue. That's why I went with the E303 cause by the time the power really starts coming the truck is ge...

Re: Options for low profile FORWARD rotation water pumps for

what are you calling a ribbed pulley, if it's a pulley for a serpentine belt you can use it. Several on here run the Explorer front accesories and they are serpentine belts. I am not quite sure what you are asking.
