Re: My swap is killing me

I don't know anybody with this setup. Although I do believe it has been done. What I don't recall is if it has only ever been done on 4wds. I believe 2wds have been V8 converted. But yeah this experience of yours will test your patience and your budget. You have and rely far less on other people's r...

Re: Motor mounts

Windsor engine blocks have vertically tapped engine mount holes making the mount surface horizontal. For all Rangers up to and including 97 models, the cross member is angled such that any of the stock Ranger mounts locate the top mount's threaded stud straight up with the mount's upper mounting sur...

Explorer accessory Brackets

Cleaned out the garage this weekend and came across aluminum Explorer 302 accessory brackets that I have no need for. If nobody is interested in them, I'm going to get what money I can get for them at the aluminum recycling facility. If interested, let me know ASAP. They'll likely be scrapped within...

I updated the original post to refer to an uploaded version of the file instead of trying to link to eectuning.org to display the picture. See if it appears now.

Re: V8 tach module

So about the picture, is that accurate to the logic you originslly had? And exactly how did it change?

Re: V8 tach module

Best I can figure is it has to do with where I posted the picture (where most members can't access). But I would've guessed that users not logged in would also not be able to see it. But it appears they can...at least pictures. I bet that's a phpBB bug.

Re: V8 tach module

That's odd. It's linked to a picture I uploaded to eectuning.org since I can't attach files on this forum. Although I don't think there is any kind of restrictions on it. Try this: Browse to eectuning.org Logout if logged in automatically Try to view this link: http://eectuning.org/forums/download/f...

Re: Spark plugs

Autolite 768s are the typical copper plug for GT40p equipped Explorers (according to Autozone's website). However if you are looking to go to a slightly cooler plug, that would be an Autolite 103. Although unless you are high compression or boosted, you likely don't need cooler plugs. I dont know wh...

There are a few pics here and there on the forum. Is there anything specific that you wanted to see (i.e. engine, header, trans)?

Or just a generic distance view of the truck itself?

Re: Really really don't want cats

...Not familiar with the silicone gasket, simply the hi temp RTV or any particular brand?... I don't remember the brand, but it's the typical name brand for gasket-in-a-tube at Walmart, Autozone, etc. I think the hi temp silicone I used back then was orange. But I think they also make a hi-temp in ...

Re: Really really don't want cats

Oh another detail about these headers, which is similar to other headers, is they require the use of the small-head bolts. Stock size bolts have heads that are too large to get a socket onto. The bolts that came with these headers from FMS were small head 12-pt bolts. My guess is you'll want to loca...

Re: Really really don't want cats

If you are capable of all that, then tuning is just something else to learn. However tuning is not "programming" like traditional programming. It's just setting predefined parameters to the right values and activating/deactivating logic as needed. The hard part is learning the pieces to fo...

Re: Really really don't want cats

Yep, that's them. Those are obviously used. Malcolm and I both got our FMS Explorer header Jet-Hot coated. When I got them back, they were very shiny. They dulled fairly quickly with use and eventually started peeling. However 10 years later, they don't look that much different than they did 3 month...
