Nothing has changed with the LEDs. You are still just putting battery voltage across their leg of the circuit or no voltage across it.
Their temp will not change.

In answer to the question above about whether it is 10W or 20W: Yes..kind of. Your resistors can now dissipate a total of 20W but you have changed the amount of voltage that each resistor sees. With 2 equal resistors in series each sees only half of the 12V or 14.4V or whatever was there when one of...

Yes, that's correct. As you increase the resistance you will decrease the power dissipation. You can plug whatever resistance value you want into the above formula and figure out the power that the resistor will be dissipating. For a 1000ohm: 14.4*14.4/1000=.207Watts so the little 1/4 watt resistors...

These resistors from digikey should work perfect for you. You can order them (p/n: ALSR10-30-ND $1.69/ea.) at www.digikey.com and they will ship same day. We use digikey all the time, they are the best electronic parts supplier hands down. Most of the time you won't find exactly what you want in a s...

Ok I'll chime in with my 2 cents since I work in an electronics engineering lab all day and have some ideas. It sounds like you have nailed the problem with the lamp checking circuit causing the LEDs to be lit dim when they are not supposed to be on. Maybe they use some kind of current source to pus...

damn thing wouldn't turn over

I tried turning the key on my 3 year project tonight but the damn thing didn't so much as flinch. I have already verified that the computer works and the fuel pump runs for a couple seconds when you turn the key to 'run'..... but no dice for the starter. Looks like its back to the schematics, but th...

Here are some pics of a link setup that I came across a while back. I don't remember where they were from so it could be somebody from here, I thought I would share though I like to look at this kind of this stuff, it gets the ideas flowing. If anybody has more please share. http://i130.photobucket....

Well I got it off. I removed that large nut and then had to use my hamonic balancer puller to remove the u-joint flange from the end of the short shaft. Then I had to beat the snot out of the carrier bearing to get it to come off. Thanks for the help. It helped to go and pick up a new carrier bearin...

carrier bearing removal

I am rebuilding the two-piece driveshaft in my ranger and I can't get the carrier bearing off to replace it. I have the driveshaft out of the truck and I took all of the U-joints out of it to replace them too so the driveshaft is in two pieces. There is a big bolt that looks like it would hold the c...

Nice project, looks like it is going to be a nice and clean install. Gonna be fast as hell too. Those are some great pics..... keep 'em coming. I remember what you mean about the battery box. I removed it from my '94 too. It was a total pain... 4 big bolts holding it down and they still felt that th...

The wire for the tachometer should be tan with a yellow stripe. There are a couple of places that you could find it. The easiest will probably be a small circular connector used for tach testing mounted on the outside of the fuse box near the battery. The tan/yellow wire is the only wire that goes t...

Be careful with the yards that are just a click away. Like Dave said it is always better being able to see what you are getting before you pay for it. In my experience the yards use a 'close enuff' mentality when you ask for something over the phone. Like you ask for a '91 headlight and they give yo...

Even here in California, the smog capital of the country, you can change your engine as long as you follow some basic rules. After the swap you have to take it to a referee station for inspection. If you pass the referee you get a door tag that will allow you to have the vehicle inspected at any smo...

Topic: Where does the coolant go when your heater core leaks?

On my 94 there is a panel under the glove box that you have to remove and then you can just slide the heater core out from under the dash. I was going to replace mine but when I saw that they are kind of expensive I decided to just keep it. Mine doesn't leak yet but the coolant got pretty bad for a ...
