Re: rim and tire size
85 Ranger btm I had to make a slight chamfer on the front hubs where the grease cap attaches. The wheel center on the ford factory wheels taper a little and if you do not chamfer the hub you could crack the wheels as they will not seat on hub face. Some people use spacers but I not a fan of spacers....

Re: rim and tire size
I have djm dream beams and 17" Mustang Bullitt wheels with 245/45 tires. Not sure what the back spacing/offset /width of wheels. I had to modify the front hubs slightly to keep from using spacers. http://i535.photobucket.com/albums/ee353/hannahspa/Ranger2009011.jpg http://i535.photobucket.com/a...

Re: How difficult is it to replace a steering box?
I have found that torque is good but a good hammer and piece of pipe sure help.
My dad was 5-5 and about 125 lbs and his saying was" leverage and impact (shock)" always work.

Re: How difficult is it to replace a steering box?
Chris
I replaced the steering box on a 91 F150 a few months ago and the pitman arm was a pain to get off.
I tightened the puller and use hammer end of shaft and it finally did come off. If I remember correctly it is a taper fit.

Re: Tri y headers
I have tri y headers for 65/66 mustang from summit and they worked without any mods. I have been told if you have an AOD they will not work but should be no problem with C4.

Re: carb backfire low rpm
I had similar problem, carb spacer was not sealing on intake manifold side.
Spray carb cleaner around carb base when running and see if idle changes.

Re: New guy here.
I have mufffler/exhaust pipe guy that installed mine for about $300.
That included muffler (89.95) dual-inlet-outlet and 2.5 pipe from headers routed to back bumper

Re: New guy here.
I am running the tri-y headers and single flowmaster dual 2 1/2 inlet and outlets.
With the single muffler I did not see need for H or X pipe.

Re: Really bad engine sludge
The only fix I know of is a new engine, at least that was what Toyota was doing. It is amazing how this problem was kept quiet.
Toyota denied they had a problem for several years.
Crank case venting can be problem a with many engine configurations especially high rpm and turbo/supercharged engines.

Re: Really bad engine sludge
Malcolm You may want to check on the sludge problem Toyota has had on several models. If I remember right the crankcase vent system was very inadequate. A friend of mine had a toyota van that the dealer had done all his oil changes and at abour 80K the engine was so full of sludge it finally just di...

Re: Newbie from NC
I had a unilite distributor and Mallory type ignition on my Ranger when I built it about ten years ago but had alot of trouble with it. Being a carb'd engine ( non rolller) for sreet driving only I put in a points distributor with the pertronix system. Very simple and reliable. Due to problem I frie...

Welcome Great group of guys here. ...not enough room for headers without jacking it up some and rebuilding them Not sure what headers you are talking about but 65/66 Mustang tri y headers fit about any setup except AOD ( tranny very wide) I put mine on after install of engine and if I remember they ...
