I don't have the trans harness so I can't go by connector color, I'm running a manual. I have the connectors so I'm wiring them to the engine harness and I'll be able to plug in the O2 sensors. Are the sensor numbers that you gave in agreement with the sensor number /wire colors that I listed above?...

oxygen sensor locations
I'm trying to wire up the oxygen sensors and I just realized I don't know which one goes where in the exhaust. I am using a '97 explorer PCM and I have the EVTM but it has all of the oxygen sensors identified by a number (#1, 2, 3, 4). I don't know which bank (1 or 2) they go in and if they are upst...

exhaust work
Well the truck is almost ready to roll Among a few other things that need to be done I am working on the exhaust right now. I am going with the '97 explorer system which has 4 catalytic converters before the muffler and I had to modify one of the pipes so that it would fit in the ranger with the dua...

According to one of the auto parts store's websites the 93 3.0 ranger take a four wire heated sensor and the 87-93 mustang takes a 3 wire heated sensor. You won't be able to splice in your ranger harness and use the correct sensor for the mustang computer. If you decide to use your ranger harness al...

fordnut, what model magnaflow are you using? Their website has lots of different shapes and sizes but no description of performance or application whatsoever. I have come to hate the magnaflow website and customer support for lots of different reasons. Tried to check on some OBDII cats from them for...

I've had that noise in my ranger and my bronco II when shutting it off, I believe on startup too but I can't really remember. You get used to the noise after a while and it becomes something you don't even pay attention to. It hadn't caused any problems for me so I didn't try to purge all the air fr...

I just took my stock driveshaft in to a shop to have it shortened. Your driveshaft will depend on where you get the engine situated in the truck so I don't think you should worry too much about that one until the end of the swap. There are lots of other things to fix first. To change the truck to a ...

I meant since you have already put a variable sender in there maybe you could get the gauge to indicate the actual pressure along with fluctuations by putting the guts from a mustang gauge in your dash. I don't know how difficult that would be, or if it is worth the trouble to you, but it would be p...

Did you get an aftermarket gauge too or just the sender. You need to match the two. Just getting a variable sender probably would not work the way that you want it to with the stock gauge in the instrument cluster. I used to work for a company that made gauges for the heavy truck industry and you wo...

From cj: I used the sender that came with the gauge. I got the electric type. had a gto with the mechanical type and the line leaked in the car. the sender is too big to mount directly to the block as is the factory mustang sender. the mustang pipe the sender mounts to is too long for my ranger. it ...

Cool. If you are still not happy with the temperature that the 2 resistors gave you then 3 should work all day long without getting warm at all. I was looking at your gauge cluster and thinking that I would like to add a real oil pressure gauge to my truck from autometer. How did you connect the sen...

50ohms 25watts might be a cooler option but the 25Watt resistors will be pretty big and you would not be buying much as far as space. With 50ohms you would still be dissipating around 4.5Watts and that heat would have to go somewhere. The resistors with a higher power rating just have the ability to...
