I just like to take off fast and get up to speed. I dont spin the tires or let the RPMs up much higher than 3500. I live in town and leave it in 2nd sometimes but realy need to quit that to get a lil better milage.

dont know I got 16+ when I had my 600 edel broc on it but had hesitation. I needed more gas flow. Now I run a 700 dual feed street avenger by Holly and run real good with great response but really drinks the fuel. Is it because its a 9:1 compression? Tightend my header gasket again today too. Cant believe how much I turned each bolt. Had them tight two days ago and I even use the red thread gup to avoid backin out. Must be the ceramic. Thank you I like your 86 too. I wish I could find the auto tinted lights for my year. Not sure if thats what you have. My Dad had them on his first conversion (88). Tinted without the covers. Tint when light are off and clear when the light are on.

What is the position of the oil outlets at the engine? Mine is at about 9:00 (pointing slightly past straight ahaed) if you know what i mean.

Sorry I didnt specify. When I added the stp oil treatment at O'Rileys and drove it home the ticking went away. It perfectly quit once again. Thanks for the suggestion on synthetics i will keep my eye open on the rebates as every dollar counts but I will not cut corners on my truck. This was my fathe...

a heavier oil even on a new engine? hmmm, I will try it maybe 5 quarts of castrol 20/50 and 1 quart of castrol synthetic. Im just a gear headed ready to learn. What kind of oil do you perfer? Im still goin to stick to my castrol just wondering what you run.

Added some STP oil treatment as you suggested. think maybe a combination of being a lil low on oil and a lifter not gettin oil. the STP gave her the cush she needed. awt to drive nice. I eliminated all the extras. I want all the power ro the rear wheels.lol. And less to go wrong. I even eliminated the wiring harness and computer and went old school... hot wire and ground.
