Re: Steering question

Thanks for the help, guys. Once I get a warm(er) day here, I'll crawl under it and take a look. It's off the road at the moment.

I have a feeling the tie-rods are a major part of it, since they don't look like they've been replaced in quite awhile.

Re: Steering question

Sorry about the confusion.. i just used the term "rack" to describe the steering set-up in general. Honestly, I wasn't sure what it used for steering (never actually bothered to look). I've heard of people swapping in Mustang II assemblies during the conversion, and was curious if this was...

Steering question

I'm still debating (and by debating, I mean i'm 90% sure, but i'm unsure of what I want to do to it) wether to swap in a 302 into my 91 or not. It's more in the "When is it going to happen" range at the moment. One question I have, however, involves the steering setup. Even with the little...

Re: V-8 Swap Noob questions..

He said it was a T-5.. but I'd have to get a look at it myself to make sure. One thing he said, that didnt make alot of sense, was that he pulled it from a '91 Mustang. 'Stangs only came with 302's back then, right?

Re: V-8 Swap Noob questions..

I've managed to find a 351w/T-5 combo from the guy who's redoing the brake-system on my truck (got tired of working on it outside.. sent it to him).

Now, most people would warn against using a 351 for the conversion. Just how much more difficult is it to use a Windsor instead of the 302?

Re: Ranger relocated gas tank

if it's the 85 auxilary tank, you can buy a brand new one. It's made by a company called Silla.

Here's the link that I found.

It's about halfway down the page. Costs about 140 bucks.

Re: V-8 Swap Noob questions..

Unfortunately, both Altoona and York are at the other end of the state.. I actually live about 5 minutes from the New York border. Do those guys still come around? Here's a question that's not really related to V-8s, but does deal with the Ranger. I have some bodywork to do around the right rear whe...

haha.. kinda off topic here.. but it relates to the 2 tags in NY state.. I traded a car for a car with a co-worker at the time who lived in Horseheads.. and I had no way to get it home, so we waited until dark one night and went up to get it. We through an old New York tag on the back (completely fo...

PA's one of those 1-tag states. Leaves alot of interesting openings for custom front liscense plates. As for the trailer deal.. its a pain to get one registered here, especially if you make your own and try to get a title for it. However, PA is also one of the states that doesnt require you to turn ...

It depends on who you go. The place I get mine inspected, they only really care about holes in the floorboard, or rusted support brackets. Luckily, my Ranger's in pretty good shape for the year (or was anyway.. ).

Around here, the inspections are very basic. Unlike New York state (newer vehicles have to be "plugged in" to have the inspection sticker printed out). Basically, all they do is do the equivalent of a roadside check (tires, breaks, tie-rod ends, etc.) and it's good to go. They're hard on r...

I know how it is transferring servers.. I just did one myself and the forum database was corrupt, so it took a bit of time getting it to work. It's not easy, and i'm still working out some of the bugs.

If you ever need some help with that kinda stuff, i'm willing to help.

The Ranger is a 2wd. The only thing i've done to it so far as swap in an 8.8 because the original 7.5 went bad. As far as the motor goes, i'm unsure. Looking at the one that's available at the local scrap yard, it's out of a 98 Mercury Mountaineer. I want to keep it EFI, even though the carb setup w...

V-8 Swap Noob questions..

Hello, I've been debating putting a 5.0 into my '91 Ranger Supercab for a awhile now. The setup that i've been looking into is one of the 302's from the newer explorers, because they already have the GT-40 heads on them from the factory. I want to back that with a T-5 transmission. I've done a good ...
