I don't think it is gonna work. I defintely think you should get rid of the explorer rear and give it to me. I'll give you DOUBLE what you paid for it. :) My truck came with a 3.08 open diff. The last time I was at the junkyard I asked if they had any 4.10 limited slips from a ranger and they wanted...

I hacked up the stock harness pretty good too. I made most of my connections close to the firewall on the drivers side fender - some pics here: http://members.cox.net/ranger5.0/wiring.htm I did have a problem getting my MIL to work the first time. There was a diagnostic port up next to the battery t...

I have done the wiring in my 94. When I did mine I cut off the old PCM connector near the firewall where all of the wiring comes through the cab into the engine bay and did most of the splicing there. I still don't have the tachometer working and I'm going to try to troubleshoot that this week, but ...

Wow.. I'm not a huge fan of the older stangs anymore but that car looks incredible. I love seeing a project were the time was taken to do things right and that looks like a perfect example. It must be a blast to drive. I'm with Dave when he says go with the 99. Extra cab gives you more room inside, ...

back when I installed the cam in the motor I took the advice from you and others and installed the adjustable timing set. I set it a 114 if memory serves (really should have wrote that down or taken pictures or something...doh). I hadn't thought about the vaccum not being sufficient. I'll try and pu...

The PCM tool that I have allows me to read the trouble codes and clear them out too. I will try clearing all the codes and then driving it to see when the DPFE code comes up again. The problem is that I can't use the MIL light as an indicator for the DPFE code since it is lit for the codes I get rel...

Well I ran the test with the engine running this time. I monitored the DPFE voltage with a DMM while the motor was running at idle (around 1500rpm while still cold). With no EGR flow the voltage was around 0.7 volts. When I applied some vaccum to the EGR valve the engine started to run rough. The DP...

Dave, I don't think that there is a difference in the DPFE sensors from 97 to 99. Usually there is a change to the connector if there is a difference in the sensor. I did not end up using the computer that you sent me. When I was trying to get the engine to fire up for the first time I could not get...

I do also get the truck into this condition where the idle jumps up to around 1500-2000 rpms and sits there for 3 or 4 seconds before returning to a normal idle. This only happens when I am playing with the gas and clutch to get going or when driving at really low speeds like coming to a stop with t...

The hoses are on right, that's the first thing that I checked. I checked VREF and sig return and those voltages are correct so it looks like the sensor is doing what it is supposed to do. I just used a vaccum pump to simulate what it would see if there was exhaust gas flowing through the oriface tub...

Hi Dave, I haven't taken it to get the controls for the auto trans deleted yet. I am trying to get the other trouble codes taken care of before I take it somewhere. I may have them try and tune it a little to smooth out the idle so I don't need the stuff installed at the IAC. This DPFE trouble code ...

dpfe trouble code

I am working out the bugs in my swap and I still have a trouble code of 1400 that I can't seem to get rid of. The code 1400 is for 'DPFE sensor circuit low voltage'. I have read that the dpfe sensors are pretty common to fail so I did replace the sensor. I cleared the trouble codes and drove it agai...

uh yep... that's the trans fluid that I used. Mobile 1 fully synthetic ATF is what you are referring to correct? I used that cause I thought it was better. I read that is the oil that they used right out of the factory on my '04 mustang GT with a manual 5-speed trans. I know that they don't have the...

probs with my T5

Hi all.. got off my butt and worked out some issues on the truck and got to drive it a little more. But now I'm having some problems with gears grinding on the T5 that I put in. I got the trans on ebay a long time ago and it was claimed to have been freshly rebuilt (from darkhorse performance if I r...
