Re: v8 swap
That's probably because you aren't using L&L mounts or Explorer front accessories. . I used the stock V6 mounts and made the flat plates....... The front engine accessories are off a Ford, Crown Victoria. Except the alternator, That's a 1 wire GM.. lol... The newer Ranger's must be a couple inc...

Re: v8 swap
Is there that much more room in the newer Rangers to be able to use a thicker radiator, and in the stock location???? There was no way I could use a stock radiator in the stock location in my 86.... I had to tuck it up under the core support with a custom made radiator and used two low profile elect...

Re: Motor mounts
I used my stock V6 mounts and made the plates.. here are a couple pics. If you look, you can see I had to make the drivers side plate thicker than the passanger side. And you can see where I had to notch the frame on the passanger side. http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg162/dyb003/Engineandcrank0...

Re: tappit?
The brace that goes from the alt braket to the intake, I had to do a little modifications to it. I little cutting and re-welding so it would fit the carb intake.. You have to make sure you get the spacer in the lower mounting hole perfict.. If you dont, you end up breaking off the ear. Trust me, I d...

Re: tappit?
If you look, you can see the brace going to the intake. What I used was the mounting brakets from a 90's 5.0 crown vic. I also had to make a spacer to keep the alt forward. I used a brake caliper slider and drilled it out for the bolt. then ground it down to fit. when I use to work at a shop I alway...

Yes, you are right, I forgot that the pump in the tank was a low pressure pump in the early years...plowboy34 wrote:My son's 85 was just like Grumpy's, we actually use the in tank pump running it directly to the carb. It only put's out 6 psi and we have had no problems with it.

Re: Fuel Pump
The pump is still in gas tank on my 86 and I dont have any problems being able to pull gas threw it. I am using an inline pump and its mounted in the engine bay. So, yes, you can leave it in there. Just unhook the power wire to it. Or pull the fuse or relay...
