Ok, another stupid question. I am not a transmission man nor a rear end man. How do you tell if its an 8.8? Is there some thing that at a glance you can tell its an 8.8 and not a 7.5?

Ok, this may seem like a stupid question, But why cant you just take your orignal backing plates,brakes, and cables and just put them on the 8.8?? I no having bigger brakes is always better, but I have never had any problems with my 9" brakes and my 5.0 has been in my truck for about 5 years. I...

The other thing you have to keep in mind with the Explorer pumps. With the resevore not being part of the pump, you cant turn the wheel without the engine running. Just my opinion, I would never run any oil that had the consistancy of water. Maybe im just old school, but I dont run anything thinner than 10w30 in the winter and 10w40 in the summer, but thats just me. I have never had a problem with the stock pump and mounting. But mine is a 1990 5.0. I dont know if your is differant.

I dont remember what I set the timing at. Dont get me wrong, it has a lope to it, just not as much of a lope that I hear in other hot rods.

I am " old school " I guess. I dont have the smarts to do all that EFI tuning. I like to keep it simple. I like my carb set up. Just looking for more power as we all do lol. Maybe I should save my money and start with a 347 stroker kit. Or even get a 5.8L and stroke that. But thats a big w...

The " blow through " carbs are starting out at around $600 and have seen them up to $1,000. So for me to save $3,000 for the setup might take me a while.
