I would look at the other half of the bearing. I have seen where only one half of a bearing is bad. You have it apart, better to be sure than sorry later. Like a said before, I hate tracking down noises. I just had a squealing noise on my wife's 5.0L Mountaineer and thought for sure it was the idler...

I would make sure you pull ALL the rods and mains. That noise sounds kind of tinny to me, it doesnt sound like a hard enough or dence enough knock to be a rod or main, but its very hard to tell over a puter. Success!!!!! I have a hydraulic clutch now. Stock clutch master, Slave cylinder for a 1983 Ranger and a line for an 88 F-150. I didn't even need to change the rod on the slave. No preload needed. I did see the fitting that summit has. They are quit pricy for just a fitting. They are $40 each and you would have to have 2, plus the hose, which is cheap in compairison. I did concider that but figure I will try this other way first, and if that wont work out then that will be the way I will go. ...
