V8LTD, I found this thread from a similar V8 Ranger forum. It talks about doing a SOHC V6 swap.

I'm actually suprised this thread hasn't gotten more response from others...

Re: SOHC V6 Conversion Vs EFI 302 Conversion???

...I never liked the truck on the hight way because it had no power there just noise. Currently it gets about 16mpg... I know exactly what you mean there. I've got a 97 Ranger 4.0, and that's about all it does is make a bunch of noise. However I do run 93 octane and synthetic oil in it and it gets ...

Reading their statement, that seems to be in-line with the drive axle guy's practice of always giving some negative angle so that the bearings do roll during light to moderate loads and only come straight (0° angle) when heavily loaded. I guess in short, they are saying the same thing. Run with some...

Malcolm, that seems very difficult to believe, however experience, testing, and published articles know way better than I do. Just using horse sense, it would seem that UVs wear out due to movement that causes the needle bearings to "work". It seems that having them not work would never we...

I'm not sure why you'd purposely impose an angle on a drive shaft when it's not required for clearance. I wonder if there's some resonant vibration that could creep up when some drive shafts rotate at a constant angular velocity/RPM (no angle on the UVs). If that were true, even a slight angle in th...

Ok, now I'm a little confused. However I think I know where the confusion stems. What I'm calling the rearend housing is from the brakes, wheel bearings, axle pipes, into the pumpkin casting. Based on your comments Malcolm, I suspect that "housing" refers only to the pumpkin casting where ...

And the plot thickens....that's some of the clarification I'm looking for. Thanks for setting me straight. Ken presented the 28 vs 31 spline axle lengths such that all 28 spline axles are equal length, and all 31 spline axles are of different length. You are right, he didn't come out and say that, b...

31 spline axles are not equal length, 28s are. Why?

Malcolm, I got that video from Ken Collins and it really was an eye-opener into what I was missing. Some pieces I knew, but others I now know if I'd tried to do it, I wouldn't have been doing it right. For anyone interested in learning more, I'd recommend Ken's video. Just for laughs, I went back an...

Malcolm, I looked over the TwEECer website. I know they will obviously be trying to promote it in the best light possible, however if it does what they are promising, it's exactly what I'm looking for. It doesn't allow you to change specific parameters on the fly while the engine is running however ...

Ford 8.8" rearend: 28 spline vs. 31 spline

I got that video (Rebuilding the Ford 8.8" Rearend) and watched it a number of times. I didn't realize how much I didn't know. Everything he did made perfect sense and I feel a lot more confident that I'll do a better job of working on an RE if I ever need to crack one open and do a complete re...

They don't go into the programming of the unit but they cover all the different modes it runs in, what sensors it's looking at, results of not finding what its looking for etc. That's probably good enough. It's not as important how they programmed it as much as how it behaves. If you highly recomme...

That looks like it could be a really good book. How detailed do they go into the programming, control algorithms, sequence of operations, and failure contengencies when sensors are detected bad/missing? Being a controls programmer myself, those are the kinds of details I'd LOVE to get my hands on. I...

Jimmie, I agree with you that MAFs can loose their accuracy over time as they get caked buildup. We use tiny MAFs on our control modules, however the complete flow of HVAC air does not flow through our sensor as it does in a car. We sample a very small amount (>.001%) of the total air flow for the p...

The price I quoted was just the adapter piece, however that was their website list price. They have a 2nd price that's their "trade" price. I have no clue what that is, but it's $99.50 (not THAT much better). http://www.landlproducts.com/pricelist.htm PN: 040180 Desc: Remote Filter Adapt. ...
