I like the sound of that. If you do that what do you do about your ignition system? I've got no wiring harness so far.

Re: Help with build list (v8 pulleys + accessories)

If this is going to be a mostly street engine, that set up really unnecessary. The stock ford 289 single points distributor is plenty adequate up to 7,000rpm. Above that, you will start to get point float where the points will ride on the high spots and never fully close. If you're going above 7,00...

Re: Help with build list (v8 pulleys + accessories)

For carb'd ignition system, I'd go with fords Duraspark II system. Wiring is very simple. The distributor has the position sensor internal so there's less wiring involved. Just be sure to keep the Duraspark module away from heat. Or, if your going the MSD route, a simple points distributor works be...

Re: Help with build list (v8 pulleys + accessories)

We used the Explorer front accesories....only way to go in my opinion, it is not complicated and gives you plenty of room between Radiator and engine. You can run a mechanical fan no problem if you want to. We run an electric one but you could use a mechanical if you wanted. As far as wiring with t...

Re: Help with build list (v8 pulleys + accessories)

The boy's 85 was just like 87sc302. had two pumps. The in tank pump only put out 6psi and thats what we ran straight to carb and never had any problems. If your going carb you should be able to run about any distributor you want. We put an Mallory HEI on the boy's truck and it has worked great. cgr...

Re: Help with build list (v8 pulleys + accessories)

It's a 92. But I'm starting from scratch. New tank, new lines, custom wiring etc.

If I go with a low pressure fuel pump what should I pick for the distributor?

Has anyone gone the carb route?

Help with build list (v8 pulleys + accessories)

So I'm going against the grain here and I need a little help to finish out my build. I'm not looking to use any parts from my old ranger engine (I've read you can reuse the pumps and alternator) Here's my engine: http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=11752 306 crate moto...

Re: Option for manual trans?

Maybe I've misunderstood. Are the adapters for 4wd only because mine is 2wd.

If that's the case with a t5 work with only needing the correct bell housing?

Re: Option for manual trans?

It's a 302 crate motor from ford. Here's the Adapter I've seen people reference: http://www.jamesduff.com/broncoII/v8conversion.html and http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_li ... sions.html

Will a t5 not work without an adapter? Any other manual trans options?

Since the t5 adapters are no longer available. What are my options for manual transmissions for my v8?

Big front brakes

I've been looking into big front brake (cobra) options and it sounds like those custom brackets are no longer being built. Anyone know where I can get my hands on a pair?

Should I just consider getting my own fab-Ed up?

Re: 8.8 New rear end flange install help

You don't want to test the preload rotating force with the gears and carriage in place. It needs to be tested with the pinion free and not spinning anything. The only resistance you want to have registering is just the resistance the bearings are putting up due to your nut tightness. Awesome! Thank...
