Re: Feeling a little snookered/bad main seal?
Found the leak! The oil pan drain plug was a home made version (why I don't know...how much is a replacement?...not much) without a copper washer and after starting the old pick-me-up and crawling under to watch while it was idling I could see it weep around the plug. I assume when driving the wind ...

Re: Feeling a little snookered/bad main seal?
Top of the engine is pristine except where the top (pressured) power steering hose is leaking a little around the fitting...soon to be fixed or replaced. I'm hoping I can find an easy leak to fix, but I be thinkin' it's the main rear seal. I might just pull the engine, replace the seal, get a new oi...

Feeling a little snookered/bad main seal?
Getting my son's soon-to-be ride ready for inspection at the DMV for registration and making double sure everything is working good...been noticing after driving a little that crankcase oil dripping after shutting off the engine. I got under it today to check it out and can see some drips (not a lot...

Re: Newbie from NC
Thanks 87sc302! $34 at Autozone IS a heck of a lot cheaper than $214. Maybe I will wait on the MSD until I drop the stroker in a few years from now...

Re: Newbie from NC
Thanks for the input. I'll probably get the 6AL since I'm really trying to make this vehicle reliable and avoid those "I'm-stuck-on-the-side-of-the-rode calls! I have a MSD coil now on it but the stock pointless distributor. Still sorting out the Holley 4160...whoever put it on didn't understan...

Re: Newbie from NC
Thanks for all the tips, guys! Good stuff. Will double check steering, Funky, in this context, means two 1/4 inch plates with rubber sandwiched between...about 1 1/2 inch worth. Engine WILL stay mild while in my son's hands...once dear old dad gets it back, well, THAT's a different story! I was able...

Newbie from NC
I've been looking at this site for quite a while and finally joined...principally because I bought for my youngest son (turning 15 in 3 weeks) what is going to be his ride for high school: '90 Ranger with a mild 302. It was 2 other people's project before me, so I'll be finishing it (shortly, my son...

Re: sold my ranger, still here after months ?
Unless it's real cash (verified by a bank) I'd be VERY careful...too much fraud out there. I almost lost a bunch 'o money on a an Ebay deal about 10 years ago.
