1999 explorer
I haved a complete 99 explorer 5.0, awd. Would sell whole or part out. Runs great, new trans with roughly 1,000 miles on it. It is wrecked and I never got a title for it. It is wrecked in front and rear, radiator is good,as is the A/C condenser. Would be a great donor for ranger swap. Contact me wit...

Re: 99 Ranger/Explorer
I have decided that i am just gonna put head gaskets on the 4.0 and give the truck to my son, I was building an 83 with a 289, 5 speed for him but he thought the extended cab was a better idea since he stands 6' 3" at 14 years old!

Re: Old Edelbrock Streetmaster 289 intake question
Wow! I am astonished at your level of knowledege! I need you around all the time! I thought I was really sharp on my Ford stuff but you blow me out of the water! Give me anything from the early 70s down and i can all but quote Fords blue prints, I've seen your replies on other folks posts as well an...

Re: Old Edelbrock Streetmaster 289 intake question
I think too that the carb is too big, I know nothing about it other than its a holley with no choke. I found it and stuck it on there! This build was on a pretty slim budget. I've got a few more carbs, I'll try another one when I get tranny back in it.

Re: Old Edelbrock Streetmaster 289 intake question
That really does clear up that issue for me, thank you very much! the 289 is completely stock, I may go ahead and slap the streetmaster on it and see how much it helps/hinders. I never was thrilled with the way it ran with an automatic in it, just seemed really doggy till about 3,000 RPM then it ope...

Re: Old Edelbrock Streetmaster 289 intake question
It is an aluminum intake, and the intake it would be replacing is also aluminum. The edelbrock is a single plane and I'm not quite smart enough to know the pros and cons as far as single plane versus dual plane.

Old Edelbrock Streetmaster 289 intake question
While rummaging through some of my dad and I stuff, I found an old streetmaster 289 intake. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about these intakes, are they a decent intake? I am currently running a 289 in my 83 ranger with a factory ford 1983 4 bbl intake on it. I would like to switch them out...

Re: 99 Ranger/Explorer
Theres what I was looking for, the not so obvious stuff. Getting the motor/trans down in it wont be a big deal. I am just concerned about all the little electronics to make it run when it gets in there.

Re: 99 Ranger/Explorer
Ok, correction, the Ranger is a 98, not a 99, if this makes any difference. I could just put a 4.0 back in it but i feel like it would be more useful with the 5.0?

99 Ranger/Explorer
Hello again folks! Thanks to everyone on here i have my clutch problem figured out, now, on to a new question. I am thinking about buying a 99 ranger with a 4.0, auto, 4x4. It has a miss in it that comes and goes, head gaskets were a issue with these but it kind of acts like a broken rocker or sprin...

Re: Clutch set up question
Grumpy, I would be interested in those fittings. I also found a hydraulic throwout bearing by RAM clutches for the T-5, anyone used this?

Re: Clutch set up question
Thanks for all the help guys! I was just thinking today at work that the older camaros and firebirds used a T-5 tranny with a hydraulic clutch. I am not sure if it would work, just a random thought?

Clutch set up question
Hello all, I am currently in the process of switching my 83 ranger from a C-4 to a T-5. My question is how do I set up the hydraulic clutch on it or should I try to make the cable set up work? The 5 speed is from a 92 Mustang.

Re: 99 explorer parts
Hey Dave, the drivers seat has a small hole by the recliner handle and the console lid does not close like it should, but the passenger seat is good. BTW it has tan interior.
