Experts on Carburetors and E85?

I was looking at my Edelbrock carb manual and it says that if I want to get better economy I can change out to smaller primary jets. Also says if I want to switch to E85 I need to change out to larger jets. So what if I keep the same jets and try running on E85? What should I expect if I did this li...

What's it worth?

I may be selling both my Mazda Tribute and my V8 Bronco II so I can get a 4x4 extended cab Ranger to better suit my everyday needs. So what would an '88 Bronco II 4x4 be worth with 3K on the rebuilt 5.0 L, C4, 600CFM Carb, Edelbrock Performer? Repainted about 4 years ago.

Re: I don't think it's shifting into 3rd

Well now I learned something and I'm gonna have to go to bed. I learned to ajust my vacuum modulator on my C4 Transmission. http://www.ehow.com/how_6952775_adjust-ford-c4-modulator.html It is shifting into 3rd. I had to turn the ajustment screw 4 full turns to actually feel the transmission shift fr...

Re: I don't think it's shifting into 3rd

Don't think I have one but I'll check.

Grand Coulee service units were done in 1982 so about 29 years ago. What happened to them? They were Basic Mechanical Cabinet Actuators. Upgrade to Digital?

Re: I don't think it's shifting into 3rd

You know, I distinctly remember doing the 2000-2500 rpm-hour run-in of the motor after I rebuilt it. But I have no recall of how I determined the speed of the motor when I did it.

Re: I don't think it's shifting into 3rd

Plowboy, you are probably right. It may be that it is shifting into 3rd and it is starting out in 2nd. It really doesn't wind out at 55. What really alerted to me was that I'm getting less than 8mpg. That's why I thought it wasn't going into 3rd. I can live with it starting in 2nd gear for now. Now ...

I don't think it's shifting into 3rd

Just got my Bronco II out of storage. I'm lov'n it!

Only problem I have is I don't think it is shifting into 3rd gear. I can only feel the C4 shift once. I don't have a taco-meter to check the rpm's at 55. Are there different types of vacuum modulators?

Re: Timed VS manifold Vacuum Port

I went down and looked. The timed Vac port is connected to the distributor. The Manifold vac port on the carb is connected to the Fuel pressure regulator, the vac port at the rear of the carb for power brakes is connected to the transmission modulator, and the port on the manifold itself is connecte...

Even though Edelbrock recommends using Manifold Vacuum for Dist Advance when emission controls are not used?

Timed VS manifold Vacuum Port

What is the difference between timed vacuum and manifold vacuum ports on my Edelbrock 1405 carb? I haven't gone to my storage place to look if I have my Distributor connected to the manifold vac port or the timed port. The manual, now that I've read it, says to connect to manifold vacuum port if no ...

Re: Been told 2011 is last year for Ranger

@cgrey8 Yes, that's what I would consider a "Crew Cab". And I thought sure I had seen that model option on Ford's Build and Price website. Thats why I was confused. I just looked again and I was wrong "They just aren't available here." My bad! Nissan has that option on the Fronti...

Re: Been told 2011 is last year for Ranger

They think it's a smart strategy. Why wouldn't they discontinue the Ranger when they can sell a very stripped down F-150 for $4000 more? All it costs them is a little more steel. I'll be looking to buy new in a year or so. It probably won't be an F150. I like the smaller trucks especially because of...

Been told 2011 is last year for Ranger

My cousin is in sales at Middleton Ford (WI) and says that 2011 is the last year for the Ford Ranger. The end of an era. The F150 3.7 V6 is supposed to replace it. I priced out on line a basic 2011 Ford F150 XL Supercab 4x4 with V6 Auto and XL plus package. $31,110 Then priced a Ranger Supercab 4.0 ...

Re: ignition question

You might find some useful information here: http://www.gofastforless.com . I used his "cheap and dirty electronic ignition" on my Bronco II and it works just fine. I used the original coil, a GM HEI module and a Ford Duraspark Dist. I don't know much about the TFI, but his TFI fit might w...
